Our Energy Storage System (ESS) comes in three categories:
a.    Fuel Cell Solar Hybrid:
There are different types of fuel cell, one of which is Methanol Fuel Cell (MFC) which is designed to operate on Methanol/Water blended mix of 62.5% Methanol IMPCA compliant and 37.5%  De-Ionized Water ASTM Class 3. Methanol is an ideal source of hydrogen for fuel cells. As a fuel, Methanol (CH3OH) offers significant advantages over other hydrocarbons such as natural gas, propane and gasoline.

Compared to competing fuels, it has significant lower sulphur content (a maximum of 0.5ppm), which simplifies the reforming process. It reduces the capital, operating and maintenance costs of the fuel cell system and greatly reduces the risk of fuel cell damage. With its low energy chemical bonds, methanol can be reformed into hydrogen at relatively low temperatures while other hydrocarbon fuels require reformation at much higher temperatures.  Methanol’s low reforming temperatures ensures faster start-up, improved system efficiencies, lower fuel processor capital cost and a longer fuel processor life.  Other important advantages include:

The MFC range of high capacity fuel cell based systems is available in 1kW, 3kW, 5kW and 10kW configurations. These systems include an integrated fuel reformer that converts a blended mix of liquid methanol-water into hydrogen gas to power the fuel cell system.
At a fuel consumption of 0.9 litres per kWh, the internal 200 Litre fuel tank provides 222 hours of autonomy for a 1kW continuous load.

b.    DC Generator Solar Hybrid:
This hybrid system utilizes power from 17kVA variable speed DC generator and solar panels to charge the batteries. The variable speed generator helps to minimize the fuel consumption based on the load. The speed of the engine increases as load increases and vice versa. This way fuel is saved up to 20%.
c.    AC Generator Solar Hybrid
This hybrid system utilises power from 17kVA constant speed generator and solar panels to charge the batteries. Two of the options are (ESSGBS172410/4 and ESSGBS172410/10). Both options have 17kVA generator, 24x12V batteries and 10x320W solar panels. The ESSGBS172410/4 has a 4kW inverter while the ESSGBS172410/10 has a 10kW inverter.  Both models can deliver constant DC power at 48VDC to the telecom facility and AC power at 230VAC to other AC consumers within the site.
